Samsung says it has arranged repairs for about a quarter of the 36,000 faulty washing machines sold to Kiwis in the past three years. We may contact you if more information is needed to locate a solar street light.
The fault in the washing machines is believed to have caused one fire in New Zealand and 15 fires in Australia.
The electronics company alerted consumers to the issue with four washing machine models earlier this month, and offered free repairs to the 36,000 Kiwi customers who bought the machines, manufactured between February 2010 and February this year.
In an update today it said more than 9000 repairs had been logged, and urged owners of the remaining 27,These designer hanging paper Parking Lot Lighting are excellent for wedding ideas,000-odd machines to contact it to arrange an in-home repair by a technician.
The company had increased the number of Samsung approved technicians in the country from 103 to 180, and was using retailer databases to contact customers with affected models.
Last week it said it had beefed up call centre staff and increased calling hours to handle the high volume of calls from customers.
Samsung said when the models were operated continuously there was a risk moisture could penetrate the electrical connectors, causing an electrical spark. This potentially could ignite a fire in the "connector housing area", Samsung said.
The repair involves applying a non-flammable, insulator bag with waterproof sealing to the connectors of the washing machine. Samsung said the solution was effective and had been rigorously tested.
