Brian Costanzo spent the last five years researching how he could make his home more energy efficient, but the cost of solar panels was too prohibitive to prove cost-effective.
"I always wanted to find out if there's something more I can do," Costanzo said.We can produce all kinds of solar led light even according to your own designs.
On Saturday, Costanzo took a giant leap toward completing that goal. Installers climbed on his garage under the blaring afternoon sun, affixing 21 solar electric panels to the roof of the home in the Villages of Urbana he shares with his wife and four children.
All that's left is the installation of an upgraded meter to read the panels' usage and production, followed by approval from his energy utility. After that, the family can flip a switch on a new box affixed to the side of their house and they'll be generating their own power.
Going solar could have cost Costanzo more than $17,000, but state, and county grants along with a federal tax incentive combined together to bring his cost to just about $9,000.
"I guess biding my time worked," Costanzo said. "The price is right. We carry commercial and Fantastic bright 45W led off-road lights, ceiling fans, lamps, chandeliers, accessories, and light bulbs."
Costanzo is the fifth homeowner since May to add solar electric panels as part of Solarize Frederick, a pilot program under the Frederick County Green Home Challenge, said Lisa Orr, a sustainable program coordinator in the community development division of the county's Office of Sustainability and Environmental Resources.
The county's goal is to have 30 people sign up for solar electric and another 30 sign up for solar hot water by August 30, Orr said. So far, 29 people have signed up for solar electric and three have signed contracts for solar water, she said. Volume discounts apply as more and more people sign up, she said.
"The more kilowatts installed collectively, the cheaper the price gets," Orr said. Astrum Solar, of Howard County, was chosen as the installer for solar electric; Solar Energy Services was chosen as the installer for solar hot water systems.

The county is focusing its pilot on the Villages of Urbana and Myersville, though any resident may participate.
Noah Jacobs, Astrum Solar's director of operations for Maryland, said the average solar electric panel installation in Frederick has ranged between the 21 panels affixed to Costanzo's roof Saturday to about 40. The panels are under a 25-year warranty and can pay for themselves within about five or six years, he said.
Raj Gill, a neighbor of Costanzo's, watched the installation and filled out paperwork for installers to provide him with an assessment. He said he is considering adding panels to the back of his garage for "aesthetic" purposes. Gill said he already tries to conserve energy by turning off lights and using energy efficient bulbs.
"Electric bills add up," Gill said.
Costanzo said he's not sure yet how much his new power bills may run. The bills will depend on how much energy the family of six consumes versus what the panels produce. If the family produces more than it uses, that power goes out to the grid and they will receive a credit toward future bills, Jacobs said. Most Led ceiling light carry a strong warning about using the bulb in a fully enclosed fixture.
"I'm still going to have a power bill," Costanzo said,The most important aspect when it comes to China LED License Plate Lamp Manufacturers is the fact that they need very low power to work. adding that with his new panels, his family's going to have first dibs on what they produce.
