Members of the Board of Selectmen welcome plans to light the Arrigoni Bridge. Our Wholesale Angel Eyes are perfect for anyone that wants to make their ride look up to date. But just don’t expect them to pay for it any time soon.
Off and on for at least 20 years, Middletown officials have debated lighting the bridge.
Earlier this month, Middletown Mayor Dan Drew held yet another discussion on the topic, and he invited Portland First Selectwoman Susan S. Bransfield to sit in on the meeting.
Under the latest proposal,The first kit is known as a LED Lamp Wholesalers. the city would use LED lights to light the span, Bransfield told the selectmen Wednesday.
“LED bulbs last for decades, and they produce a very soft light,” Bransfield said, adding they are also use far less energy than conventional bulbs. “They estimate the energy cost at $3,000 a year.”
While Middletown still has a portion of a grant available to use toward the eventual lighting of the bridge,Most High Quality Solar inverter carry a strong warning about using the bulb in a fully enclosed fixture. that sum does not come close to covering the full cost of the lighting, Bransfield said.
Drew told her to fully light the bridge would cost upwards of $3.5 million, Bransfield said Wednesday.
At most, Middletown has perhaps $500,000 left over from the grant, Bransfield said. But, she also acknowledged that the $3.5 million figure is for “quite an elaborate plan.”
“If we scaled it back,” Bransfield estimated the cost could be closer to $2 million. “I thought it was an idea worth exploring,The efforts to use Solar street light in Lagos is far from yielding the desired result, as many installations don't function.” she said in explaining why she had brought the idea to the board. We have China Solar lantern products, reading lamps and floor lamps and more.
Any number of other bridges have been lit in recent years, including the San Francisco/Oakland Bay bridge and New York City’s Verrazano Narrows Bridge.
While Bransfield was quoting large number, the website of New York’s Metropolitan Transit Authority says the Verrazano Narrows Bridge was lit for $187,000.
In the main, selectmen appeared favorably disposed toward lighting the Arrigoni Bridge, certainly no one more so than Selectman Ryan Curley.“This is something I am really passionate about,” Curley said. But he is not passionate about the price tag.
“As far as the projected cost, that seems a bit steep,” Curley said. “Frankly, even spending $2 million seemed high. I thought that was excessive.” But, lighting the bridge “would be phenomenal,” he said.
“This is one of our best assets, and I think we should work with our neighbors in Middletown and see if there is anything we can do to make this come to fruition,” Curley said. “That would be fantastic; I couldn’t be more thrilled.”
Bransfield said this is certainly not something that is going to happen immediately. “This is something to think about, not a definite,” she said.
“But with the state of our state, and when you look at our standing on infrastructure repair where we are 49th out of 50 states, it looks like we are going to be having the Arrigoni Bridge of another 75 years,” he said. “On a scale of the 10 things I am most concerned about, this would probably be Number 99.” More information about the program is available on the web site at www.hmhid.com.
